I worked on the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! a little this weekend. I’ve now completed all but the actual mounting of the solar panel and switch for the lights. I’m particular about switches for my projects, I don’t know why. I used to have this baller collection of toggle switches, but I have used a lot of them and I think a bunch more were discarded accidentally. So as you will see, I just have a run of the mill 12v toggle hanging for now.
wire management
I did however find the perfect switch enclosure! It was just sitting there on the back of an existing work light. So I yanked it and converted that work light to operate without a switch.

The battery I am using for testing I yanked out of our old FiOS terminal, haha. I figured I would just test everything out with it then buy a large deep cycle battery. However I have been using the crap out of the lights and have yet to have to charge the battery...Once the solar panel is up, that little battery will probably suffice with just lights!
One of the groups of loomed wires is a 3 channel connector that I made real long to run for the switch. 2 wires to complete the ground circuit for the lights, and one for a constant LED should I choose a toggle switch with one. The other group of loomed wire is just the positive and negative for the light bars.
I made a couple quick harnesses for the battery. A connection for the charge controller, one for the lights, and another for something in down the line (prob exterior lights).

And here is the switch situation as it stands.

Also finished this 356 outlaw in Tamiya “French Blue”.
About three fiddy...six
That is all I have for now. Happy Monday!
UPDATE: I almost forgot...It’s bright AF.

That blue is fantastic.

Very cool!
I need to replace one of the rocker switches on my camper. Stuff at the RV store is stupidly overpriced. I’m going to try Fry’s today.
The Outlaw looks great!

RV store must be the same as the boat store. They wanted $30 for a switch like that poopy hanging in the pic! I think that switch came in a 20 pack for like $8.

Looks good!
When you’re applying paint, are you using an airbrush?

No, I’ve been going broke on rattle cans lol. I have had a compressor/airbrush in my cart prob 10 times. Nervous about the learning curve and don’t really have a place to paint inside.

I see a lot of repaints where they used brushes and it just looks rough. You’re getting much better results with spray paint . My daughter took it upon herself to respray a lamp over the weekend. Overall, it looks pretty good but there are some noticeable runs and sags. After the lamp, she took on a picture frame. She listened to my advice this time (sand it first, use multiple light coats instead of one heavy coat) and the results are much better.

Well thanks! I have also started to shy away from using clear coat. It’s real hard to get it perfect and if you don’t it looks worse than it did without a clear coat. Also more prep and more care when painting.
My aim is to get a little better with 1:64 then move up to a 1:18th model. Going to work my way all the way up to 1:1!

Did you add an extra floor to the shed? I just went through the pain of replacing my wood floor, but yours looks cool

That floor came with it, it’s super thin however. It’s actually on a cement pad, but I chose to build a wood base and raise it . I have only seen water back there once, after a really serious storm but figured it was an easy preventative measure.

Yeah, same business model basically. I will buy some things from them, because I like the idea of having a brick and mortar store in business, for when I need something right damn now, but I’m not bending over on a generic rocker switch that can wait.

Gotchya. I’m debating about putting down garage pads/racedeck/whatever type of stuff to help. But don’t want to go overkill. I think it’s a 10x8 space or so, so not a huge expense...but would really help cover up some of the imperfections I had to work around and/or created due to my own limited skillz :)

You know, it’s much easier to work your way down!
I haven’t painted any tiny things. My experience is with much larger things like bikes a nd houses. One of my first “real” jobs was as a porter/painter’s helper at an apartment complex. They handed me a brush, showed me the right way to cut in, then set me loose with a bucket of gloss for all the cabinets and trim. The other helper job was making sure the painter always had a cloth on the carpet under and ahead of him. We used two painter’s tarps and I just had to make sure I stayed ahead of him. He was using an airless sprayer and he was fast .
I’ve thought it would be fun to paint a few Hot Wheels, but I just have too many hobbies and not enough space.

For whatever reason I’m really good at working with small things. My hands don’t shake and I’m delicate... when I really concentrate. I’m hoping to be the one re spraying the 02 when it’s time.
Absolutely agree on the too many hobbies not enough time/space. I had to step away from modeling for a while as it began to trigger the anxiety it used to relieve. I get too into stuff too quickly then I’m like “fuck I can never do all of this.” then get too discouraged to do any of it.
Most of the time I’ll take a brake and come back, which is what I’m doing here. I’m going to work though the few cars that I had in process then do one at a time moving forward.

It’s never good when your hobbies make you anxious. Once it gets too much like work, then it’s time to pull back.
I also don’t like it when I’m unhappy with the results. So far, I’ve been lucky and have had good luck with the things I’ve tried. A lot of it is keeping my expectations low when getting started.
When I had to paint my mom’s place, a friend of mine came over to lend a hand for a day. We spent half of it putting up painter’s tape to protect all of the natural wood trim. When he found out I know how to cut in without the tape, he asked me why we wasted half a day with the tape. I figured he wouldn’t be comfortable rolling the walls without the protection the tape offered. Both of us underestimated each other’s and our own skills. At least we got the job done and had a good laugh about it.

Since we have an identical shed, I wanna ask you something - are you planning on insulating the roof? Mine gets extremely hot inside , to the point that I think it’s ruining my detailing products lol
I was thinking buying some of these sheets and attaching them to the inside of the roof panels:
Do you know of a better way?

So fuckin hot!!! I’m actually planning on putting a cylindrical fan in the top since I already have power.
